Do you photograph multiple dogs together?
It’s very common for me to photograph multiple dogs, sometimes even with children or several family members in the mix. At first, it might seem impossible to imagine all of them sitting nicely together and looking at the camera, but I promise it can be done.
The truth is, not every dog reacts the same way. Some are hyper, some are calm, some just want to play. That doesn’t mean they’re not cooperating, it’s just their personalities shining through. I always reassure my clients that this is completely normal, and it never means the session isn’t going well.
When it works organically, it’s wonderful. With the help of treats, toys, and a few tricks, we can often capture that perfect group photo where everyone’s sitting just right and looking at the camera. But if it doesn’t happen naturally, that’s perfectly fine too. Thanks to Photoshop and careful post-production, I can merge the best images of each dog into one seamless final portrait. This way, we can take the best moment from each pup and create one image that looks as if they all posed perfectly together.
During the session, I also make small adjustments to positioning so the dogs are comfortable and relaxed. Safety always comes first, which means if we’re outdoors, leashes stay on until everyone is calm, and I edit them out later. In the studio, the dogs have a safe, private space to explore off-leash.
Most importantly, I keep the atmosphere relaxed and fun. I want the dogs to have a good time, and when they do, their personalities shine through. Whether it takes a little patience, a few creative tricks, or some post-production magic, I always make sure we get the shot.
